Description

The Begna waterfall is one of the hidden pearls of the Porlezza area, in the heart of the Lake Ceresio and the Valleys. It is located in the Poncì area, where the Rezzo stream - which descends from the homonymous Rezzo Valley —forms a spectacular waterfall, pooling in a clear pool with emerald reflections. On hot days, the cool water invites you to stop, while the surrounding forest provides a quiet, shady backdrop.

It's a place that rewards those who want to explore: no crowds, no queues, just the sound of the water and the scent of the undergrowth. The short trail that leads there starts from the center of the hamlet of Begna and, after passing the last houses, offers a clear view of Lake Ceresio and crosses a characteristic stone bridge just before reaching the waterfall. It's a perfect destination for families and those seeking an easy walk immersed in nature.

The ideal time is from spring to autumn, when the flow is at its most generous. A word of warning: the rocks near the waterfall can be slippery, so appropriate footwear and a little caution are required, especially with children.

How to get there: on foot from the village of Begna in about 20 minutes. Follow the Begna Waterfall Trail (Poncì).
