Gottro Mountains – Mount Pidaggia Trail
The Monti di Gottro – Monte Pidaggia Trail is a hiking trail immersed in the pristine nature of the Ceresio5Valli area. This route offers breathtaking views of woods, meadows, and scenic ridges, making it ideal for trekking and nature photography enthusiasts.
Route details
Departure:
The trail begins at Monti di Gottro, in the municipality of Carlazzo, a small mountain pasture located about 900 meters above sea level. The area is easily accessible by car and parking is available near the Crotto da Gusto.
Path:
From the starting point, the trail begins with a gentle climb through meadows and woods, immediately offering panoramic views of the Menaggio Valley mountains. As it continues, the path steepens and passes through a dense beech forest, before opening up to rockier areas before reaching the summit. The final stretch requires some caution due to some sections of steeper, rocky terrain.
I arrive:
Once you reach the summit of Mount Pidaggia (1,524 m), you are rewarded with a spectacular 360° view, with glimpses of Lake Ceresio and the eastern branch of Lake Como, the Val Cavargna, Val Sanagra and the mountains of Como and the Canton of Ticino.
