Saturday October 17, 2026, from 2pm, the Pro Loco Valsolda organize the Chestnut Festival in San Rocco, In the municipal chestnut grove above Dasio. An autumn afternoon outdoors, among the chestnut trees and the scent of roasted chestnuts, with the view opening onto the Lake Ceresio.
Roasted chestnuts, chocolate and soft drinks
The Pro Loco stand offers roasted chestnuts just removed from the fire, hot chocolate and drinks: the bare minimum for spending an afternoon in good company when the days are getting shorter and the mountain temperatures are getting cooler. A simple, local event, one of those that in Valsolda mark the change of seasons.
The chestnut grove of San Rocco
The municipal chestnut grove of San Rocco is located above the hamlet of Dasio, in the upper Valsolda: a restored and cared-for chestnut grove, accessible on foot from the village along the mule tracks that climb from the valley floor. It's the same mountainside that hosts the Feast of San Rocco on August 15th, and in October it becomes the perfect spot for a chestnut feast.
