The Deer's Roar at Lake Piano: A Nature Hike

Description

Saturday, October 3, 2026 there Piano Lake Nature Reserve hosts “The Deer's Roar at Lake Piano”, an afternoon nature excursion organized by History Trek with meeting at Carlazzo. With the arrival of autumn the deer gather around the lake for the mating season and the roar of the males resonates among the reeds: one of the most exciting spectacles that nature has to offer. Lake Ceresio and its valleys can offer.

The program

We walk around the lake between reeds, woods and hills, searching for traces and signs of the presence of the animals that inhabit the reserve and discovering the habits, diet and behaviour of the deer, in their delicate relationship with the environment and with man.

Together with a Reserve guide then you reach a reserved observation point, to see the deer and hear their bellowing. The experience concludes at sunset, returning enveloped in the soft light of this small natural paradise.

The excursion is led by Andrea Burzì, environmental hiking guide (AIGAE card LO638) and archaeologist, freelancer pursuant to Law 4/2013. Participants are covered by third party insurance.

The route

• Difficulty: easy
• Length: about 8 km, altitude difference +/- 100 m
• Duration: from 2:00 pm to approximately 7:30 pm

A minimum level of fitness is required for walking on simple, flat or slightly uphill trails, as well as some experience on forest trails. To familiarize yourself with the reserve's environment in advance, see our itinerary. Visit to the Piano Lake Reserve.

Participation fee

• Adults and children aged 13 and over: €30 (nature excursion + deer-watching experience)
• Children 6–12 years: 15 €
• Excursion not suitable for children under 6 years old

Deposit and balance due on site before the excursion begins.

Need to know

For safety reasons, the guide reserves the right not to admit participants who are not adequately equipped and to vary the route based on weather and trail conditions. In case of bad weather The excursion may be postponed to a later date. In uncertain weather, it's helpful to bring a raincoat or jacket. Confirmation or cancellation will be sent to registered participants by the evening of the previous day. Please notify us (including via SMS or WhatsApp) of any delays or last-minute cancellations.
