Friday, May 15, 2026, at 8:45 PM, the Lodge Schools a Valsolda They host an evening dedicated to the musical memory of a territory that knows no borders: the recital “Small Ancient Songbook” Of Elsa Albonico, accompanied on the accordion by Flaviano Braga. The event is organized by’Friends of the Antonio Fogazzaro Valsolda Municipal Library Association, free admission and with refreshments at the end.
Born in Olgiate, Como, in 1943, a graduate in philosophy and a scholar of ethnography and anthropology, Elsa Albonico has for decades been one of the most credible and passionate voices in research on Lombard and Ticino folk songs. She has collaborated with Rai 3 and produced broadcasts and documentaries for the RSI – Swiss Italian Radio, signing publications that are now points of reference: from the original LP Small Ancient Songbook (1983-84) a Sing Insema, Bread and Music, Lombard Woman, up to the most recent Give me a treat (2015) and Pin pin cavalin (2018) for Dominioni Editore.
The general public recently met her at Blind Auditions of The Voice Senior on Rai 1, in the sixth edition aired between November and December 2025: with his interpretation of But me by Ornella Vanoni won over Loredana Bertè's team, bringing to prime time the same intensity that has always distinguished her research work.
The show scheduled in Loggio is a blend of songs, stories, and memories of peasant life of the past. Albonico has always chosen the countryside as his field of study.’Lombardy-Ticino area — the very border territory where Valsolda is located, where the Lake Ceresio divides and at the same time unites Italy and the Canton of Ticino. A context that makes this evening particularly significant, in the library named after Antonio Fogazzaro, the writer who set his life right here Little Ancient World.
