For eleven months of the year, the deer of Lake Piano are discreet presences: they can be glimpsed early in the morning or at dusk at the edge of the clearings, and then disappear into the woods. Then, around mid-September, the valley floor changes voice. From the woods descending from Mount Galbiga, a deep, hoarse sound rises, bouncing off the water and reaching the houses of Piano Porlezza and Carlazzo: it's the roar<\/strong>, the call with which male deer announce the mating season. For about four weeks the Piano Lake Nature Reserve<\/strong><\/a> It becomes one of the most accessible places in all of Lombardy where you can listen to it and, with patience and a good pair of binoculars, see it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
