{"id":12417,"date":"2026-07-29T02:04:25","date_gmt":"2026-07-29T00:04:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ceresio5valli.it\/?post_type=eventi&#038;p=12417"},"modified":"2026-07-29T02:07:35","modified_gmt":"2026-07-29T00:07:35","slug":"visita-guidata-chiesa-san-lucio-cavargna-16-agosto-2026","status":"publish","type":"eventi","link":"https:\/\/ceresio5valli.it\/en\/eventi\/visita-guidata-chiesa-san-lucio-cavargna-16-agosto-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Guided tour of the Church of San Lucio in Cavargna"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sunday, August 16, 2026 the <strong>Friends of Cavargna<\/strong> invite to a <strong>guided tour of the Church of San Lucio<\/strong>, the Alpine sanctuary symbol of the <a href=\"https:\/\/ceresio5valli.it\/en\/val-cavargna\/\">Cavargna Valley<\/a>, nestled on the pass of the same name on the border between Italy and Switzerland, above <a href=\"https:\/\/ceresio5valli.it\/en\/comune\/cavargna\/\">Cavargna<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The visit will be led by <strong>restorer Paola Villa<\/strong>, which will guide participants to discover the history of the church and the <strong>restoration supervised by her<\/strong>, an intervention that has enhanced its artistic heritage. The visit will also be enriched by an intervention by <strong>Don Vincenzo, parish priest of the Valley<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Two visiting shifts<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>First round:<\/strong> 2:30 PM<\/li>\n<li><strong>Second round:<\/strong> 4:00 PM<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>La <strong>participation is free<\/strong>, with a free offering in support of the <a href=\"https:\/\/ceresio5valli.it\/en\/poi\/museo-della-valle\/\"><strong>Valley Museum<\/strong><\/a> of Cavargna. The <strong>Reservation is required<\/strong> via email to <a href=\"mailto:amicidelmuseocavargna@gmail.com\">amicidelmuseocavargna@gmail.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>The Church of San Lucio<\/h3>\n<p>The church stands in a spectacular position at <strong>San Lucio Pass<\/strong>, on the ridge that separates the Val Cavargna from the Swiss Val Colla: a place of popular devotion linked to <strong>Saint Lucius, protector of mountaineers and cheesemakers<\/strong>, a destination of pilgrimages from both sides of the border for centuries.<\/p>\n<p>The sanctuary can be reached <strong>only on foot<\/strong>, along the paths that go up from Cavargna or from <strong>Cava Pass<\/strong> above Buggiolo, a hamlet of <a href=\"https:\/\/ceresio5valli.it\/en\/comune\/val-rezzo\/\">Rezzo Valley<\/a>: a perfect opportunity to combine the visit with a walk at high altitude, for example along the route of the <a href=\"https:\/\/ceresio5valli.it\/en\/percorsi\/monte-garzirola\/\"><strong>Mount Garzirola<\/strong><\/a>, which hits the pass.
