Discover this exciting hiking trail which crosses a suggestive Alpine environment embracing woods, pastures and panoramic ridges between Rezzo Valley, Colla Valley (That Cavargna Valley. From comfortable and well-marked paths from the initial stretch up to Passo San Lucio, at times more challenging and rocky as you climb towards the summit, this varied land requires hikers to have a’adequate equipment from hiking.
With a degree of medium-high difficulty, the route is ideal for walkers experts and in good physical shape, and with a adequate training. During the’summer, offers spectacular views of the Alpine arc and the surrounding lakes. In winter, becomes more challenging because of snow e ice, requiring specific equipment for the’mountaineering.
Along the way, it is possible to find alpine refuges such as the San Lucio Refuge and the Garzirola Refuge, which offer refreshment and opportunities for overnight stay. The presence of the Church of San Lucio represents a point of reference historical e cultural significant. Furthermore, remains of wire fence along the border ridge testify to clandestine activities linked to the’era of smuggling between Italy and Switzerland in the region.

Route description:
The hiking trail starts from Buggiolo, fraction of the municipality of Rezzo Valley, in the locality Dasio. The climb begins with a fairly steep and constant gradient, but after a few hairpin bends you reach the small church of the Madonna del Cep, where the slope gradually becomes gentler.
We continue until the San Lucio Pass, at 1,541 meters above sea level, where the small church of the same name and an alpine refuge are located. From here, you have the option of continuing towards the Garzirola Refuge following a less steep but longer dirt road that passes through the’Tabano Alps, or continuing along the border ridge, which is shorter but requires more effort (trace on the map).
Arrived at the Garzirola Refuge, at 1975 m altitude, it is possible to reach the summit, at 2116 metres, continuing along the ridge for another 1.5 km of walking.
