Living Nativity Scene of Sora 2025

In Val Cavargna, Christmas is experienced as it once was: without shop windows, without frenzy, but among stone houses, streets decorated with pine branches, lit fireplaces, and an entire community transported back in time.

La 19th edition of the Living Nativity Scene of Sora, organized by Val Cavargna Folklore Group, is one of the most authentic and popular Christmas events in the Ceresio area.

With over 120 extras e 100 collaborators, the entire hamlet of Sora is transformed into a large open-air living nativity scene, where forgotten crafts come back to life:

-the plumber, with the sparks of the tin in the night;

-the'’knife grinder, who sharpens knives and is eager to tell stories;

-the sawyers, suspended three meters above the easel;

the housewives, engaged in the buseca and in the matuscia;

the craftsmen who make clogs, bowls and utensils.

The ancient houses are reopened and converted:

old stables, fireplaces, kitchens, dairy laboratories, restored wash houses, wool spinning rooms.

The local animals – cows, calves, sheep, goats, donkeys and horses – complete the scene, making it real, alive and exciting.
