Who is Anna Danielon?
A native of Como with a diverse and significant background—including responsibility for the Province of Como's environmental education center and tourism promotion activities—Anna Danielon has only recently embarked on a career in writing with conviction.
She is the author of three novels: The first quarter of the moon, an adventure in Florence (Bookabook, 2019) and A wound deep in the heart (Eretica Edizioni, 2021), winner of the 2022 Scritture di Lago Award.
Own A wound deep in the heart It has a direct connection with our territory: the novel tells the story of Étienne, who arrives on Lake Como at just nine years old, in 1960s Italy, with his dreams in a cardboard suitcase. With that book, Danielon won the third edition of the Lakes Award – Lake Writings, reserved for novels and short story collections set on the Italian or Italian-speaking Swiss lakes, with a proclamation at Villa Olmo. Not just any recognition, therefore, for those who come to present themselves at the library that bears the name of Antonio Fogazzaro, the writer who made these lakes immortal literature.
The new novel
Together was the world It begins with a dramatic event that overwhelms the life of young Vasyl and his family in the Danube Delta in the late 1970s. From there, a choral tale unfolds, with the relationship between parents and children as its underlying theme.
The protagonists' journey spans the entire continent—from Milan to Paris, from the Canary Islands to Galicia, from Romania to the Danube Delta—over a period of nearly forty years. Vasyl, Noa, Giuseppe, and Beatrice travel unaware of the intertwined nature of their lives, each representing a part of humanity capable of coming to terms with the past and finding its own path.
In the background, an increasingly smaller and more fragile Europe: overtourism, sustainability, and migration are not just backdrops but living elements of the story, part of the fabric on which the characters move.
The evening is a rare opportunity to meet a local literary voice in a place that, by its history and vocation, is tailor-made to welcome stories like this.
